By making his world a little colder"

Is love what is reallythe most important thing for me?
One problem I have with any belief system with the concept of an afterlife is that it robs us of one of the most monumental parts of the human experience, accepting that we are temporary entities. Man has such a fear of mortality and a fear of insignificance, and you can see the damage it does to us. Let us let go of that fear, and accept that we are minute and without an everlasting soul. Once we die. We are gone.
In the wise words of Stephen Hawking, who is not only a brilliant physicist, but someone who has faced his own mortality for decades, “I regard the brain as a computer which will stop working when its components fail. There is no heaven or afterlife for broken down computers; that is a fairy story for people afraid of the dark.” And I think it might do us some good to recognize that.
This quote by Bertrand Russell sums up the world fairly nicely. The wonderful thing is that sometimes, but not very often, we see someone who is wise and is confident in their beliefs enough to inspire change.
